In Pursuit of the 36 Hour Day

Because 24 hours just doesn't seem sufficient anymore.

Questions to dive in and hammer out into solutions by the end of the month are:

Kaleidoscope Bestiary?
Love Letter Scans?
Photo-Realistic Tree Women Drawings?
Zipper People Paintings?

and last but certainly not least...

Satirical Infographics?

Hmmm....
Goal number one, complete 8-10 pieces a month (totally, ridiculously doable...)
There I said it. 8-10 pieces a month. Hold me to it, invisible audience!

Two Books!

I made two books yesterday, and I'm glad to say, I've honed my messy fingers since art school. I'm actually kind of good at binding, and will make a lot more of these little guys. The finishing part of book binding still has me in a tizzy, but I think I just need to slow it down, by a lot, and then I will be able to get the precision I'm looking for. For now it's just paperbacks, I need a stronger knife to cut the board for hardback..... No pictures yet dears, sorry. Once I get my scanner, very soon folks, this blog will be off the mutha' f'ing hook. Trust.

Daily Inspiration #2.1

Daily Inspiration #2

For The Love of Typography

Typography (Etymology: typos—type, graphos—written) is the art and technique of arranging type, type design, and modifying type glyphs. Type glyphs are created and modified using a variety of illustration techniques. The arrangement of type involves the selection of typefaces, point size, line length, leading (line spacing), adjusting the spaces between groups of letters (tracking) and adjusting the space between pairs of letters (kerning).

Once my scanner comes in, I will have a greater ability to get the type glyphs I want into my designs. I have been lettering for a long time, nothing calligraphic or traditional, but letters/words as art has been a recurring theme in my work for over a decade. Sans scanner I must look to the interwebs for descriptive pictures to show you what I mean.

we love typography is a site that I have been addicted to for a while now. Those peeps that run the sister site, i love typography have amassed an amazing resource of typography-centric information. I'm working my way up to designing fonts, and due to the overwhelming supply that is already present, lots and lots of research needs to take place.
